Marshfield’s girls opened the 2022/23 prep basketball season with a 53-25 win at home over visiting Douglas Wednesday, at the Pirate Palace, Coos Bay. Marshfield (1-0) is scheduled to play Astoria, Friday, 6 p.m., at a tournament at Madras. Marshfield’s boys lost to visiting Douglas 39-32. The Pirates (0-1) play at Brookings Harbor Tuesday, Dec. 6.

North Bend’s girls picked up a road win to open the 2022 prep basketball season at Florence, 49-10 over Siuslaw. The Bulldogs (1-0) are scheduled to play at So. Umpqua, Thursday, 7:30 p.m. North Bend’s boys also won at Siuslaw 61-38. The Bulldogs (1-0) play at So. Umpqua, Thursday, 6 p.m.
