Marshfield is No. 7 in this week’s OSAA/Coach’s 4A Girls’ Basketball Poll. The Lady Pirates (5-3) trail No. 1 Baker (5-0), No. 2 Gladstone (6-1), No. 3 Astoria (6-2), No. 4 Madras (5-2), No. 5 La Grande (4-1) & No. 6 Cascade (3-3). Marist Catholic (4-3) shows up at No. 10. Coquille’s girls (7-2) are tied with Pleasant Hill at No. 8 in the 3A Poll, and Bandon’s girls (6-1) are No. 2 in the 2A Poll.

Marshfield’s basketball teams head to the Stayton Holiday Tournament Wednesday through Friday. The Lady Pirates open Wednesday, 3 p.m., against 3A Jefferson, while the Pirate boys follow at 4:30 p.m. against 4A Scappoose. Both games will be broadcast live on FM 105.1 KMHS.

North Bend’s girls head to the Newport Holiday Tournament Wednesday through Friday on the Central Coast. The Bulldogs open on Wednesday, 11 a.m., vs. 2A Taft of Lincoln City. North Bend’s boys are off until Jan. 6th.
