Oklahoma State’s wrestling team downed Oregon State 20-12 in a collegiate match at Gill Coliseum, Corvallis, Sunday. OSU release – CORVALLIS, Ore. – A record crowd of 6,764 saw No. 26 Oregon State drop a closely contested dual with 12th-ranked Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon. The crowd was treated to a contest with numerous close matches before the visitors pulled away for a 20-12 win. After dropping the day’s first three decisions, the Beavers seized the momentum with four of their own to grab a 12-7 lead. No. 23 Matthew Olguin (165) held strong for a 7-5 win via sudden victory over No. 20 Wyatt Sheets. Once the extra frame started, Olguin wasted little time for the match-deciding takedown to get the Beavs on the board. Keeping up the momentum, No. 29 Aaron “Mateo” Olmos (174) grabbed a wire-to-wire win by decision over Dustin Plott at 9-4 to get Oregon State within a point at 7-6. Trey Munoz – No. 11 – took a ranked opponent down – No. 13 Travis Wittlake – to give Oregon State the lead at 9-7 following his 4-3 decision. After an intermission in the 197-lb bout, 18th-ranked Tanner Harvey came from behind to take down No. 21 Luke Surber in a 14-9 decision. Harvey battled back from down 5-3 after the first and then took over. The graduate student outscored Surber 11-6 for the ranked win. Oregon State will take to the road for its next two: against Princeton in a neutral bout in Austin, Texas on Friday before opening conference play at Little Rock on Saturday.
