DUII at Bastendorff Beach
CCSO release – Date / Time: February 2nd, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.; Case Number(s): S2302553; Classification: DUII; Location: Bastendorff Beach; Suspect(s): Anthony Brown (67) years of age; Information to be released: On February 2, 2023, at about 4:00 p.m. the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a Green Jeep Grand Cherokee driving recklessly in the South Jetty parking lot at Bastendorff Beach. The vehicle was reported to be doing “donuts” in the gravel lot and spaying gravel towards other vehicles in the area, while driving on Bureau of Laned Management, State Parks, and County managed lands. Sgt. J. Boswell arrived in the area within minutes of the 911 report and located the vehicle attempting to leave the area. Sgt. Boswell contacted the vehicle on Bastendorff Beach Road. The driver was identified as Anthony Brown (67) years of age of Coos Bay. Upon talking with Anthony about the incident, probable cause was developed that Anthony was intoxicated. As a result of Sgt. Boswell’s investigation, Anthony was arrested for DUII and transported to Coos Bay Police Department. After processing, Anthony was released on citation.

Burglary & Assault, Wygant Rd.
CCSO release – Date / Time: January 29th 2023 at 8:48 p.m.; Case Number(s): S23-02232; Classification: Burglary I, Assault IV (Domestic); Location: 64780 Wygant Road, Coos Bay, Oregon 97420; Suspect(s): Brian A. Donaldson (41) years of age; Information to be released: On January 29th 2023 the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of an assault which had occurred on Wygant Road, near the City of Coos Bay. Sgt. S. Moore responded to the location an began an investigation into the incident. During the investigation it was learned the suspect, Brian A. Donaldson (41) years of age of Coos Bay, broke into the residence of his ex-girlfriend and subsequently assaulted her. The confrontation was broke up by a neighbor and Brian left the scene prior to police arrival on scene. At the conclusion of his investigation Sgt. Moore issued probable cause for the arrest of Brian A. Donaldson on the charges of Burglary I, and Assault IV (Domestic). On February 3rd, 2023 Deputies B. Davis and Freerksen responded to a business in the Coos Bay area while following up on this case. Ultimately, Brian A. Donaldson was located and arrested. Brian was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was lodged on the charges of Burglary I, and Assault IV (Domestic).

Warrant Service, Bunker Hill
CCSO release – Date / Time: February 3rd, 2023 @ 6:25 p.m.; Case Number(s): S23-02656; Classification: Warrant Service; Location: Coal Bank Ln / Harriet Rd Coos Bay Oregon; Suspect(s): Jonathan Lee Baron (34) years of age; Information to be released: On February 3rd, 2023 at 6:25 p.m. Deputy H. Francis was patrolling the area of Bunker Hill and observed a traffic violation occur directly in front of her patrol vehicle. Deputy Francis initiated a traffic stop resulting in the driver being cited for driving while suspended (violation) and driving uninsured. A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Jonathan Lee Baron 34 years of age of Coos Bay, from prior police contacts. During an investigation it was learned Jonathan had two valid warrants for his arrest. The two warrants were for failure to appear and felon in possession of a restricted weapon respectively. Jonathan was arrested and transported to the Coos County Jail. Important note: The vehicle involved in the traffic stop was secured at the location as it was completely off the public roadway. It should be noted the Coos County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of updating its towed vehicle policy. When this process is complete a vehicle involved in a traffic stop with an operator driving suspended and / or uninsured would be subject to be towed, regardless of the location the vehicle stops. These changes are being considered by the Sheriff’s Office administration for overall safety of the public.
