Lauby (41); Information to be released: On February 28, 2023 at 9:00 p.m. the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch center received a report of an assault which had occurred on Robertson Lane, near Barview. Deputy Z. Smith from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the location and contacted the victim.
Stalking, Bandon
CCSO release – Date / Time: February 28th, 2023 at 1:01 p.m.; Case Number(s): S23-04673; Classification: Violation of a Stalking Order; Location: 50375 Hwy 101 Bandon, Oregon, Coos County, Oregon; Suspect(s): Andrew Strome (38); Information to be released: On February 28th, 2023 at 1:01 p.m. the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a possible violation of a stalking order. Sgt. J. Clayburn investigated the incident by speaking with all parties involved. During the investigation the suspect was identified as Andrew Strome (38) years of age from Bandon Oregon. After the investigation was complete Andrew Strome was arrested on the charge of violation of a stalking order. Mr. Strome was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked on the charge and later released on his own recognizance.
Menacing, Byren Road
CCSO release – Date / Time: February 27th, 2023 at 3:16 p.m.; Case Number(s): S23-04603; Classification: Menacing (D), Harassment (D); Location: Byren Road, Coos Bay, Oregon 97420; Suspect(s): John L. Bastendorff (56); Information to be released: On February 27th, 2023 at 3:16 p.m. the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a disturbance in progress occuring on Byren Road just south of Charleston Oregon. Sgt. J. Clayburn from the Sheriff’s Office responded and contacted the vicitm to take the report. The suspect, who was identified as John Bastendorff (59) years of age of Coos Bay allegedly threw several tools at the vicim and made the statement, “I’m going to shoot your ass,” also directed at the victim. Sgt. Clayburn completed his investigation, which included interviewing witness and Mr. Bastendorff. As a result of the investigation John L. Bastendorff (56) was arrested on the charges of domestic menacing and domestic harassment. Mr. Bastendorff was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked.
