Read Across America, March 2

CBPL release – The Coos Bay Public Library will celebrate Read Across America Thursday, March 2 from 5:00-7:00pm. Guest readers from the community will share books in a variety of languages and local organizations will provide hands-on crafts and games. The event is geared towards kids and families 18 and under; participants under the age of 18 will receive a free book as part of the festivities. Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA) and guided by a committee of educators, NEA’s Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. The Coos Bay Public Library has a longstanding tradition of providing an event to the community. This year’s event is focused on community. Participating community groups include the Coos Bay School District, the Coos Bay Art Museum, the Coos Confederated Tribe, Washed Ashore, Coos Hispanic Allies, the Marshfield High School Key Club, the Marshfield Honor Society, the Marshfield Cheer Squad, Miss Teen Coos County, the Marshfield High School Z-Club, and CARE Connections Child Care Resource & Referral. The program is made possible with funding from the Three Rivers Foundation.
