OSAA Dance/Drill Championships
Marshfield’s Upbeat Dance Team placed fourth at the 4A/3A/2A/1A Jazz competition at the OSAA State Championships Friday, Salem Pavilion. The Upbeats were also fifth in the 4A/3A/2A/A Traditional. In the Drill Down competition, Marshfield’s Kealy Carpenter placed sixth.

North Bend ventured up Hwy. 101 to play Newport in a non-league prep baseball game Friday and got the exact same result as Marshfield got at the beginning of the week, a 4-3 Cub win at Frank Wade Park. The Bulldogs (0-2) are scheduled to host Bandon/Pacific (2-0) Monday, March 20th, 4 p.m., Clyde Allen Field. The 2A Tigers opened with a 12-0 win at home Tuesday over Creswell and then got a road win Thursday at Glide 14-3.

Marshfield’s baseball team split a season home opener Saturday with visiting Douglas. The 3A Trojans from Winston won the first game 17-1, but the Pirates won their first game of the young season in taking the second game 9-7. Marshfield (1-3) hosts Sutherlin Tuesday, 4 p.m., Coos Bay.

North Bend’s softball team lost 13-8 at Newport Friday. The Bulldogs (0-2) are scheduled to host Bandon/Pacific Monday, March 20th, 4 p.m., Oak Street Fields. The 2A Tigers (0-2) lost their first two games, 21-1 at home Tuesday to Creswell, and 16-0 at home to Glide on Thursday.

Marshfield’s softball team won two from visiting Mazama Saturday at Coos Head Field, Coos Bay, Saturday. The Lady Pirates took the first game 13-3 (5), and won the second game 9-2. Marshfield (3-0) will host Sutherlin Tuesday, 4 p.m.
