News release from the Coos Bay PD. In August the Coos Bay Police Department saw a reduction in drunk driving arrests, having only 1 driver arrested for DUII in the month during both regular and overtime DUII patrols. At the same time, there were 70 crashes in Coos Bay 7 of which were reported to involve some level of injury. With the number of collissions on the rise, the Coos Bay Police Department, will continue to deploy additional police officers for DUII patrols during the month of September in an effort to make the roads safer as the summer winds down. Expect to see additional DUII patrols during weekends and during local festivals such as the Coos Bay Fun Festival on September 19th.
