The Coos Bay Public Library Foundation is looking for some good spellers! Not just good spellers—really good spellers, the now-grown-up kids who always got As in spelling. Registration is open for the Foundation’s Adult Spelling Bee, to be held March 22nd at 7pm. The event will take place at the Mill Casino and Hotel’s Salmon Room. Not only will the winners claim bragging rights, but one of the lucky teams will win a grand prize, and all teams will take away event T-shirts and special awards. Registration is $75 per team of two or three people and includes dessert buffet and coffee, along with a limited edition event T-shirt for each contestant. Members of the public are welcome to attend and are encouraged to cheer on their favorite teams. Audience tickets are $25, which includes the dessert buffet and coffee. The Mill will provide a no-host bar. The Library Foundation is also seeking business and professional sponsorships for a minimum of $100 and up to $500 to make this event a success. Sponsors will have their name and logo on the T-shirt and receive other recognition. Contestants must be at least 18 years of age. Anyone can put together a team and foster friendly competition between various businesses and civic organizations. The Coos Bay Public Library Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the library and its service to the community. Registration information is available online at http://bay.cooslibraries.org/ and in the library. Team registrations are due by March 1st.
