A Eugene-area woman was cited by Oregon State Police (OSP) following a Wednesday afternoon alcohol-involved traffic crash that seriously injured her along Highway 126W about ten miles west of Veneta. OSP reminds drivers that enhanced enforcement efforts are taking place in Oregon and around the country approaching “National Holiday Lifesaver Weekend” and through the upcoming holiday season. On December 18, 2013 at approximately 1:53 p.m., a 2011 Honda CRV driven by DIANE K. BANOS, age 63, from Eugene, was westbound on Highway 126W near milepost 37 traveling through a curve when it went off the highway and crashed nearly head-on into a tree. BANOS was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. Preliminary investigation indicated that alcohol was a contributing factor. BANOS was cited to appear in Lane County Circuit Court for DUII and Reckless Driving.
