ALERT! Changes in Coos County Risk Metrics, Dec. 15

Coos Health & Wellness is working hard to keep you informed on the status of COVID-19 guidelines in Coos County. We will continue to provide updates as these situations change. Data from Oregon Health Authority shows that our county entered a warning week on 12/7/2020 by exceeding the number of new cases allowed in a two week look back window. This look back window was from 11/22/2020 to 12/05/2020 and showed 207.00 cases per 100,000. On 12/14/2020 we received data from Oregon Healthy Authority showing the newest numbers are 246.5 per 100,000 and the case positivity rate is 4.8%. The look back window for that data will is 11/29/2020 to 12/12/2020. The number of cases per 100,000 is still over 200 so we will be moving to the Extreme Risk category guidelines on 12/18/2020. Once we enter the Extreme Risk Category we would need to show numbers below 99.99 cases per 100,000 for two consecutive look back periods in order to move down to High Risk category again. For more detailed information, please see the governor’s website here. https://coronavirus.oregon.gov/Pages/default.aspx It is up to us, as a community, to be the best public health stewards we can be. We are asking that you follow the guidelines such as social distancing, wearing a face covering in public and using good hand hygiene to help keep our case counts low enough that we can get our schools re-opened for the benefit of our children.
