It’s Arbor Week! Oregon’s Arbor Week – as designated by the Oregon Legislature – is the first full week of April. This year, 57 Oregon cities, including Coos Bay & Bandon, are being recognized as Tree City USA communities. The newest city to be added is the city of Rivergrove, located in northwest Oregon. Tree City USA is a program of the National Arbor Day Foundation sponsored by the Oregon Department of Forestry. It recognizes cities that develop programs to plant and care for trees. The 4 standards of becoming a Tree City USA are: * Tree Board or Department; * Tree Ordinance; * $2/capita expenditure; * Celebration of Arbor Day and Proclamation.
