Armed Robbery Suspect in Custody, Dec. 4

News release CBPD. On 12/03/15 at approximately 1108 hours, Coos Bay Police Department along with Coos County Sheriff’s Office and Confederated Tribal Police responded to the 1700 block of Southwest Blvd, for a report of a residential armed robbery, involving a firearm. One of the victims had called 911 and reported that a male subject had entered his house, armed with a handgun and bound both he and his roommate with Duct Tape. The same victim further advised the dispatcher that the suspect then stole his money and fled on foot. The victim was able to provide the 911 dispatcher with a description of the assailant and the last known direction of travel. Within minutes, Coos Bay Police arrived in the area and located a male subject matching the provided description, a short distance away. Coos Bay Police Officers detained the male, who was identified as 57 year old Rockie Lee Ray, a Coos Bay transient. Both victims positively identified Rockie Lee Ray as the perpetrator. Ray was taken into custody, the firearm reportedly used in the crime was later found nearby. It was also determined that the firearm had been stolen from the home of Ray’s nearby relative. Ray was transported to the Coos County Jail and lodged on Robbery 1, Burglary 1, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Menacing, and Unlawful use of a Weapon.
