Arson Arrest in Scottsburg, June 27

At 7:11 am, June 26, 2018, Douglas County 9-1-1 received a call of a structure fire with suspicious circumstances in the 200-block of Burchard Drive. Firefighters from Scottsburg, Reedsport, North Douglas and Elkton Fire Departments were dispatched to the blaze along with the deputies from the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies contacted 27 year-old Scottsburg resident Kayn Oshley and eventually took him into custody. Oshley was transported to the Douglas County Jail where he was lodged on the following charges: Arson I; Criminal Mischief I. Detectives are continuing their investigation at this time. Personnel from Douglas Electric, the American Red Cross, Oregon State Police and Oregon State Fire Marshall’s Office assisted at the scene.
