CCSO release – On May 21, 2021, at about 0233 hours, the occupants of 91222 Cape Arago Highway located in the Barview district of Charleston contacted the Coos County Dispatch Center as their home was on fire. Fire personnel from Charleston Fire and Coos Bay Fire responded rescuing one of the occupants in the home from the upper story of the house. Upon investigation of the cause of the fire, fire personnel began to suspect arson due to the odor of fire accelerants around the home. The Oregon State Fire Marshall, and investigators from Oregon State Police, Charleston Fire and Coos Fire Protection Agency and Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded. Video of the suspect was captured on security cameras on the home. While the suspect’s face is not visible, he is a husky male wearing a hoody. If anyone recognizes this person, or has any information in regards to the fire at 91222 Cape Arago Highway, they are encouraged to contact the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 541-396-2106.
