News release Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On September 1, 2016 at about 4:06 PM Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Charleston Fire Department, Bay Cities Ambulance, Coquille Tribal Police, Coos Bay Police, Coos Confederated Tribal Police and Oregon State Police were dispatched to a reported stabbing incident at 90721 Wilshire Lane, Coos Bay, Oregon. The victim, 50 year old Aaron Nordholm had been transported to Bay Area Hospital with possible head injuries. The suspect, 25 year old Eithen Nordholm had fled the scene,  A perimeter was set up by responding officers and K9 Odin and his handler Deputy Adam Slater were able to get a track on the suspect. Although initial information from bystanders had pointed officers in a direction away from where the suspect actually was, K9 Odin was able to get on track of the suspect’s scent. An OSP trooper on the perimeter observed and located the suspect and was able to confront him from about 200 yards, causing the suspect to go to the ground and hide in tall grass. K9 Odin and officers were able to locate him. He was taken into custody without incident in a wooded area a couple blocks south of the incident scene. Deputies learned the situation was not quite as reported. The reported stabbing had occurred with a cordless drill that had a socket bit instead of a drill bit, so no actual injury occurred by stabbing. Deputies did learn that during the fight between Eithen and his father Aaron, which was over a flat tire on a vehicle, Eithen took Aaron to the ground and caused Aaron to sustain an injury to his head from the impact with the ground or a brick which Aaron fell upon. Eithen Nordholm was taken into custody and transported to the Coos County Jail on the charge of Assault in the Fourth Degree (Domestic). Eithen remains in custody on $10,000 bail.
