California fire officials sent an additional request for five strike teams from Oregon to assist with fires burning near Chino in southerrn California. In response, the OSFM Agency Operations Center activated strike team crews from Linn/Benton counties, Umatilla/Union counties, Clackamas County, and Klamath/Douglas counties who are now on their way. The OSFM is extremely grateful to Oregon’s fire chiefs and their agencies for again stepping up to the plate to help our neighbors to the south as they continue to struggle with an unprecedented amount of fires on their landscape. Earlier release from Eugene/Springfield, Two brush rigs and a task force leader from Eugene Springfield Fire have arrived in California as part of an Oregon task force providing additional resources to crews battling raging wildfires in the Santa Rosa area. Crews are working a 24 hour on 24 hour off cycle assigned to protecting a subdivision of about 50 homes in the east hills of Santa Rosa. Reports received from our crews indicate fire activity is high and it is an active battle to get control of the fast moving fire. Pictures provided are from Eugene Springfield Fire crews.
