On Thursday, April 13, 2017, around 1130 am, 30 year old Joe Davis of Sutherlin, reported that he had driven to 45 year old Jason Silva’s residence, in the 300 Block of Stearns Lane, Sutherlin, to meet with him over a trailer they were having a disagreement over. Davis stated that while he was on the driveway headed towards the residence, Silva came out and began to shoot at him with a small caliber rifle. Davis’ vehicle was struck by the gunfire several times, but Davis was not injured. Davis drove away and called police. While Deputies were speaking with Davis, Douglas County Communications received a call from Silva’s wife who was requesting contact at her residence, which is where the shooting occurred. Deputies went to the residence, where Jason Silva was contacted. Jason Silva was detained without incident and was cooperative with law enforcement. The firearm used in the shooting was recovered at the residence. Silva was interviewed by Detectives and later lodged at the Douglas County Jail on a charge of Attempted Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
