An autopsy on the body of a 50-year old male discovered Saturday, Feb. 27, inside of a van parked at the South Jetty near Bastendorff Beach showed “he died of gunshots wounds to the head.” According to a news release from Coos Co. District Attorney R. Paul Frasier, Byron Clark Sherritt, “the death is now classified as a homicide.” No suspects have been identified. “The investigators are asking anyone who was in the large parking lot near the south jetty on Monday February 22 through Saturday February 27 to please call the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.”
