South Coast residents have the opportunity to hear from renowned economists about local, state and national economic conditions as well as from local leaders about projects of importance to the local economy at the 23rd Annual Economic Outlook Forum scheduled for Friday, December 11, at The Mill Casino-Hotel. The 6:45 to 11:00 am breakfast conference is presented by the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and Knife River Materials, in cooperation 30 sponsoring businesses and organizations. State Senator Arnie Roblan will give an introductory presentation for the day. The Forum features John Mitchell, former US Bank Chief Economist, who will provide a keynote address on the state, regional and national economic outlook. Guy Tauer, Labor Economist with the Oregon Employment Department, will present an overview of the Coos County and Coos Bay Area economy. Updates on projects that affect the community will include the South Coast Development Council—Connie Stopher, Executive Director; Southwestern Oregon Community College—Dr. Patty Scott, President; and Bay Area Hospital—Paul Janke, CEO. Also highlighted will be South Coast businesses: Painted Zebra Designs and 7 Devils Brewery. Additionally the New Business Challenge winner for 2015 will be announced.
