News release from Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On Monday 02-08-16 at about 5pm the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office that they had positively identified a body that had washed ashore at Baker Beach, seven miles north of Florence, on Saturday 02-06-16 at around 2pm. Monday 02-08-16, the Lane Co Medical Examiner obtained fingerprints and provided the prints to the OSP Forensic Lab where their Latent Comparison Scientists made a positive for identification Joshua W. Paulus using AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System). Joshua W. Paulus, 31 years of age of Port Orford was one of the missing persons involved in the Eagle III commercial boat accident that occurred on the bar of Coos Bay on January 19th.
