CCSO release – On April 5, 2021 at approximately 04:16 am, Coos County Deputies received a report from a female that her boyfriend, 67 year old Michael B. Currie of Bandon assaulted her in the home they shared. Deputies responded to the scene and located the victim. She was seated in a car outside the residence wearing only a pair of pants, shoes, and a robe. She had obvious wounds and blood covering her face. Mr. Currie was contacted and it was discovered he was under the influence of alcohol. The incident was investigated, and Mr. Currie was taken into custody. It was also discovered Mr. Currie had a firearm in the house. There was an active stalking protective order against Mr. Currie, prohibiting him from owning any firearms. The exact situation that led to Mr. Currie possessing this firearm is still under investigation by the Coos County Sheriff’s Office. The gun was seized from the residence.  Mr. Currie was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was lodged on the charges of Assault IV (Domestic), Strangulation (Domestic), Menacing (Domestic), and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
