Some of the areas prep sports teams will play one another in a non-counting schedule beginning Sept. 24 at North Bend. According to a schedule prepared by the Athletic Directors at NBHS, MHS & Powers High School, prep teams will play one another in Volleyball, Baseball, Softball & Track and Field. The Oregon Schools Activities Association (OSAA) is allowing their member schools to organize their own competition during Season 1 (which runs until Dec. 28th) but under the strict guidance and requirements of the Oregon Health Authority and Coos Health & Wellness. Those guidelines include no spectators; however, the Coos Bay School District’s KMHS (FM 105.1) radio station will broadcast some of the contests. Volleyball will be played outdoors in the football stadiums beginning Sept. 24th, Vic Adams Field, 4:30 p.m. as both Marshfield and Powers take on the Bulldogs in the first of nine scheduled contests between the three teams. Baseball and Softball both begin Friday, Sept. 25th with Marshfield at North Bend (Clyde Allen Field), 4:30 p.m. Softball will be at MHS (Coos Head Field), 4:30 p.m. Jayvee teams will also play, but at the opposite field. The first track meet is Oct. 2 at North Bend with MHS and Powers. There will be four track meets in all, rotating between the two schools. There will be eleven Baseball & Softball games between the Bulldogs & Pirates. The first mini season ends Oct. 23rd with a track meet at MHS. The second mini season will include Football (seven-on-seven passing with flags) as well as Soccer. The second mini season will be over by Dec. 28th when the OSAA will begin Season 2 with the normal Winter Sports, exception could be wrestling.
