Bicyclist Killed on 199, Sept. 5

On September 1, 2016 at about 12:45PM, OSP Troopers and emergency vehicles responded to the report of a crash involving a pedestrian on Highway 199 near milepost 20 (in Selma). Preliminary investigation revealed a 1997 Ford pickup towing a 25 foot RV was traveling southbound on Highway 199 when a bicyclist attempted to cross all lanes of traffic, colliding with the side of the Ford. The bicyclist was thrown from his bike and struck the RV. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, later being identified as Robert L GREEN, age 45, address unknown. The driver of the Ford, Michael S MANN, age 58, of Redmond, was not injured. Highway 199 was reduced to one lane of alternating travel for two hours while the investigation was conducted.
