The Coos Bay District of the Bureau of Land Management sold 3.293 million board feet of timber, worth $806,793.30, at an oral auction Friday, March 17. Scott Timber Company of Dillard, Ore. was the high bidder for the Woodward 11 commercial thin timber sale. The timber is located on Coos Bay Wagon Road lands in Coos County. There were two other qualified bidders for the sale. Receipts from this timber sale are deposited into the Coos Bay Wagon Road grant fund. Money from this federal fund is used to pay an in-lieu of tax payment to Coos and Douglas Counties each year to compensate for the loss of tax revenue from federal lands.
