The Board of Forestry will hold an executive session for the purpose of conferring with legal counsel regarding the board’s rights and duties related to current litigation or litigation likely to be filed pursuant to ORS 192.660(2)(h). If media representatives are present at Executive Session, then the representatives of the news media are specifically directed not to report on any of the deliberations during this Executive Session, except to state the general subject of the session as announced. A public meeting is scheduled after the executive session, for the board to review its final order regarding the petition for rulemaking on marbled murrelet sites. On July 20, 2016 during its regular meeting, the board reviewed a petition to create rules for marbled murrelets. As part of its decision making, the board considered a report, a presentation, information from staff, and public comments. Acting within its authority under the Administrative Procedures Act, the board denied the petition, in part, because the specified resource sites topic, which includes murrelets, is on its work plan. As the board implements its work plan, many issues raised in the petition will be considered. Both meetings will be held at Building C, 2600 State Street, Salem on November 29. The executive session will be held in the Clatsop Room from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m., and the public meeting in the Tillamook Room from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Accommodations for people with disabilities, and special materials, services or assistance can be arranged by calling 503-945-7200 at least 48 hours before the meeting. The Board of Forestry consists of seven citizens nominated by the governor and confirmed by the Oregon Senate. More information on the board is available at www.oregon.gov/odf.
