On January 1, at about 8:53 A.m., Oregon State Police troopers responded to a report of a deceased person on the beach about 1 mile north of Roads End State Park. Early information indicates that 58-year-old JAN THUM, of Damascus, was walking on the beach collecting agates. THUM was found deceased by a person walking on the beach and called in to the Lincoln City Police Department. While the investigation is not complete, troopers believe his death was not suspicious.
