Bonfire Altercation, Jan. 18

Myrtle Ln, Coquille, CCSO release – On January 10th, 2019, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Coos County Parole and Probation Department regarding a report of an adult providing alcohol to minors, as well as possible damage to personal property. An investigation was launched and multiple juveniles were interviewed in connection to the case over a period of several days. Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that on or about January 4th, 2019 a bonfire party was hosted at 91485 Myrtle Lane, in the Riverton district of Coquille. It was learned there was an altercation during in which the suspect, 28 year old Brian Gulseth, pushed or otherwise grabbed three male juveniles. One juvenile was pushed with such force into a pickup as to cause a dent with an estimated value of over $1500 to fix. Further, it was learned Gulseth provided alcohol to at least two juveniles under the age of eighteen, and provided a place for more juveniles to consume alcohol. Lastly, the investigation showed Gulseth provided marijuana to a minor under the age of eighteen. Gulseth, who is on parole for Robbery II, was arrested with the assistance of Parole and Probation for Criminal Mischief I, Providing Marijuana Items to a Minor (both C Felonies), three counts of Harassment (B Misdemeanor), two counts of Providing Alcohol to a Minor (A Misdemeanor) and Providing a Place for Minors to Consume Alcohol (A Misdemeanor). Gulseth was booked and lodged at the Coos County Jail for the above listed crimes. A detainer was additionally placed by Parole and Probation for Gulseth to be held.
