The Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon is Celebrating National Boys & Girls Clubs Week. The National Celebration Empowers Americas’ Kids and Teens with Youth Bill of Rights. With the theme ‘Celebrate Red, White and Boys & Girls Club BLUE,’ National Boys & Girls Clubs Week, March 7-12, 2016 will feature the many ways the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon is opening the door to great futures for children and teens in our area. Planned activities during National Boys & Girls Club Week at Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon include: MONDAY: Open the door to Academic Success – 4:00pm: -Spelling Bees for all grades throughout the Clubhouse; -LEGO Challenges in STEM Corner; 4:15pm: Healthy Habits in the Kitchen- Blue & Red Berry Smoothies; 4:30pm: Clubhouse Trivia Circle Pool; Other activities: Building challenges, “33” Dice Game, Vision Boards. TUESDAY: Open the Door to Teens Take Over Tuesday – 4:00pm: -Games Room Tournaments for all grades: Foosball, bumper pool, chess, checkers, ping-pong; -Tech Time: myfuture.net/essentials; 4:15pm: Leadership Coos Education Tour; 4:30pm: Yogurt Parfaits with Miss Coos County, Quinlyn Deming and Miss Outstanding Teen, Rylee Young. 5:00pm: Teen Mash-up Social for 8th-12th graders; Other activities: Musical chairs, Laser Crawl, Hot Shot. WEDNESDAY: Open the door to Character & Leadership – 2:15pm: Healthy Habits in the Kitchen: Asparagus and Swiss Macaroni and Cheese; 4:00pm: Take the Pledge, ‘Youth Bill of Rights’; 4:30pm: Clubhouse “Compliment Crazy!”; 5:00pm: “Sidewalk Talk”; Other activities: Clubhouse beautification, Intro to gardening. THURSDAY: Open the door to Healthy Lifestyles – 4:00pm: -Healthy Habits in the Kitchen: Parmesan and Garlic Potato Wedges; – “Tag, You’re It”; 4:30pm: Outdoor FUN! 5:00pm: Lap Club Challenge; Other activities: Team dodgeball, Pickle ball, Healthy Snack.
