Bridge work to slow traffic on OR 36 near Cheshire, Oct. 26

An urgent bridge repair will result in a lane restriction and delays on OR 36 near Cheshire. Travel on OR 36 (Mapleton-Junction City Hwy.) will be restricted to a single lane with flaggers controlling traffic near Cheshire (MP 49.82) on Monday, October 26, 2015 as crews replace a bridge cap beneath the bridge. The 28-foot long bridge cap is located on top of the bridge pilings and supports the bridge deck. During an annual inspection of the bridge, the condition of the wooden bridge cap was found to be deteriorated and in need of replacement. The 14” X 14” wooden cap will be replaced with a 10” X 10” steel cap. The work will begin at 9 a.m. and traffic will be controlled by flaggers. During the phase of work when the old bridge cap is removed and the new cap is placed, delays for travelers could extend beyond the normal 20 minutes. All work should be completed by 4 p.m.
