Buckskin Fire, June 16

The Buckskin Fire of Southwest Oregon has grown to more than 2,000 acres. The wildfire, which was caused by lightning strikes June 11, is located in the Baldface Creek area of Curry Co., roughly the same area as the Biscuit Fire of 2002, just north of the California border. A public meeting about the fire will be held tonight, 6 p.m., at the Cave Junction Community Building. Motorists are being cautioned to drive carefully on Hwy. 199 because of the dense smoke created by the wildfire.
