CCSO release – On October 24, 2020, at about 5:30 PM, deputies were dispatched to the area of Stadden Lane in Coos Bay for a subject who was breaking into a car. The suspect fled the area, but was followed by the victim. As deputies arrived in the area, the victim was able to point out the suspect as he was fleeing. Deputies attempted to stop the suspect as he tried to run away on foot. The suspect ran into Highway 101 and was almost struck by a vehicle. Deputies were able to take him into custody. Once the suspect was in custody, deputies learned the suspect had also just broken into a residence on Stadden Lane. The suspect had entered into an occupied residence and was chased out by the homeowners. After leaving this residence, the suspect unlawfully entered a vehicle parked at the neighbor’s house and was most likely attempting to steal the vehicle. The vehicle owner observed the suspect in his vehicle, confronted him and the suspect fled until deputies arrived and took him into custody. The suspect was identified as 35 year old Andrew Martin of Coos Bay. Martin was transported to the Coos County Jail on the above charges, where he was booked and lodged without further incident.
