Burglar arrested, March 31

News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On March 29, 2015, at about 0930 hours, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies and Coquille Tribal Police responded to 64338 Penny Road for a report of a possible burglary with someone still in the residence. Sheriff’s Deputies and Tribal Police Officer arrived and contacted the homeowner; Ms. Patricia Jones who said she heard people upstairs in her house. Deputies could also hear noises from the upstairs portion of the residence and during a search of the house located a male subject inside the residence as he was trying to flee the residence. This subject was identified as 22 year old Michael McKeny of Coos Bay. There were indications that Mr. McKeny was not alone however a search of the residence and surrounding area for other suspects had negative results. Coos Bay officers and a K9 team assisted in a search for other suspects. Deputies did locate numerous stolen items from the residence in the garage and wooded area around the property. Michael McKeny was arrested on the charges of Burglary I, Burglary II, Theft I and Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle. He was transported to the Coos County Jail where he was booked and lodged. The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
