Daimler Trucks North America is closing its Portland truck plant temporarily, citing supply disruptions due to COVID-19. It employs about 700 people. Stanford’s restaurant in Clackamas and Hillsboro closed due to COVID-19, laying off 56 and 65 workers, respectively. The Children’s Clinic laid off 98 workers in Portland, Tualatin, and Newberg due to COVID-19. Franz Bakery is hiring for more than 150 positions available throughout its bakeries and distribution areas, including Portland and Springfield, due to COVID-19. Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland will lay off about 400 people due to COVID-19 and will reduce the 2020 season to two months, aiming for a September reopening.
