On 02/18/2014 at 5:45 p.m., the Newport Police Department, Lincoln Interagency Narcotics Team (LINT), and the US Marshal’s Service arrested Sonny Cain, age 25 of Lemon Cove, California, on an outstanding Homicide warrant from Tulare County, California. Law enforcement learned Cain had fled California, where he was wanted in connection with a homicide, and was currently in the Newport area. LINT located a vehicle associated with Cain and began watching the vehicle and a residence on NE Echo Court in Newport. Once it was determined by surveillance that Cain was present at this location, law enforcement officers assembled and closed in. Officers surrounded a building containing several apartments, including the one in which Cain was believed to be. Officers made contact with Cain at the residence, taking him into custody without incident. Cain was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and charged with a Fugitive from Other State.
