ROSEBURG, Ore. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has just been made aware of a social media post where an individual reported finding a noose outside of his yurt over the weekend at Whistlers Bend Park. We are immediately opening an investigation. We take reports of potential hate crimes very seriously and will always investigate aggressively. We have not yet been contacted by the individual who posted the incident on social media, but ask they call us immediately at 541-440-4471 so that we may further the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office also asks anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators immediately, referencing the case number. Case #20-2748
