Around 75 people attended a town hall in Pacific City to discuss safety issues at Cape Kiwanda. Senator Arnie Roblan conducted the meeting, which included Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Director Lisa Sumption and local fire, rescue, and law enforcement officials. Members of the public included community residents, people who visit the area from the Willamette Valley and other parts of the region, and people who have suffered loss of friends and family members in the last two years. Oregon Parks and Recreation Department staff will work with county and local first responders on a longer-range response, but will adjust some signs and temporary fencing in the next few days based on the community’s input.
