Cape Mendocino Quakes, August 4

A couple of minor earthquakes struck the Cape Mendocino area of Northern California Saturday, August 2.  Both were located 15-miles south to southeast of Eureka, CA where two fault lines enter the Pacific Ocean and then turn north to run parallel with the Oregon Coast.  According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 2.9-magnitude earthquake occurred first at 2:38 a.m., followed by a second, a 2.5-magnitude, at 3:47 p.m.
