The Coos Bay City Council met Tuesday night and welcomed in five new members following elections earlier this month.  With Joe Benetti seated in the Mayor’s seat, the Council moved quickly to end the wastewater treatment controversy the previous Council struggled with.  The prior Council tried to investigate privatization of Plant No. 2 in Empire, but the delay meant financial difficulties for the city as far as DEQ fines and the loss of grant funds to build the facility at the west end of Fulton Ave.  The new Council voted to move forward with the DEQ recommendations.
