CBPD release – Seven people were arrested on theft, offensive littering, and stolen vehicle charges following an investigation into a suspicious person. The Coos Bay Police Department (CBPD) responded to a report of a suspicious person in the 600 block of N Bayshore Dr. on May 29, 2024, at approximately 6:30 a.m. The reported individual was found by CBPD officers, along with a group of others, near the Coos Historical Museum, 1210 N Front St. in Coos Bay. The group was associated with a motor home and a Dodge van. After looking into the circumstances surrounding both vehicles, the officers discovered that the Dodge van had been stolen, then reportedly bought by a different person, and traded for the motor home. Officers also located many of the owner’s items from the vehicle, which had been dumped nearby and into the bay. The officers contacted all the parties involved in the thefts and illegal dumping, many of whom were already on scene. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and the owner’s dumped property was recovered. The charges against each of the seven individuals that were taken into custody by the CBPD are listed below. All seven people were transported and lodged at the Coos County Jail. Arrested on Offensive Littering charges: • Sheri Harris, 35, of North Bend; • Nichole Stewart, 45, of Coos Bay; • Ernest Moye, 49, of Eugene. Arrested on Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle and Theft 1 charges: • Scott Denardo, 49, of Coos Bay; • Lindsay Wright, 31, of Coos Bay; • Joseph Boracci, 53, of Coos Bay; • John Rabey, 45, of Coos Bay. Mr. Rabey was also arrested on two Douglas County Sheriff’s Office warrants charging Failure to Appear on original charges Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule II, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Failure to Carry and Present License, Failure to Appear I, and Failure to Appear on a Citation, with a total bail of $200,000. The CBPD appreciates the assistance provided by the City of Coos Bay Public Works in cleaning up the dumped property and trash from the waterfront.
