CBPD DUII, Dec. 4

Coos County Law Enforcement will deploy additional police officers over the Christmas/New Years Holiday to crack down on Drunk Drivers. In November two Drunk Drivers were arrested in Coos Bay. Beginning on December 11, 2015 and running through January 6, 2016 the Coos Bay Police Department along with other local law enforcement agencies will have additional police officers patrolling the streets in search of impaired drivers over the Christmas & New Year’s Holiday. The deployment of additional officers during this time period is a joint effort by law enforcement agencies and Oregon Impact. The goal is to ensure that roads in Coos County are safe to travel on. We hope to accomplish this goal by aggressively seeking out impaired drivers and removing them from the road. The Coos Bay Police Department would like to remind drivers that under Oregon Law, driving under the influence of alcohol, and/or controlled substances is illegal and will result in arrest. Controlled substances include illegal narcotics such as methamphetamine and Heroin, but also includes marijuana and many prescription medications as well. The Coos Bay Police Department encourages all drivers this holiday season to drive safe, and plan ahead by having a designated driver identified ahead of time if you plan on consuming alcohol and or marijuana. In November, the Coos Bay Police Department participated in one DUI High Visibility Enforcement operation. One DUI arrest was made during that operation, and one other DUI arrest was made during regular patrols in November.
