News release from Coos Bay PD. In June the Coos Bay Police Department arrested 3 drunk drivers during regular patrols. 1 impaired driver was involved in a traffic crash and had passengers in the car. 2 impaired drivers were in possession of marijuana at the time of their arrest. The Coos Bay Police Department will continue to deploy additional police officers for DUII patrols during the month of July supported by funding from Oregon Impact. Oregon DMV recently released statistics showing that the Oregon motor vehicle crash fatalities are up 43% from last year. During the month of June there were 45 crashes reported in Coos Bay. 3 of those crashes resulted in some level of injury.
