CCB New Administrator, May 7

Following an extensive recruitment process, the Construction Contractors Board has hired a new administrator to lead the agency. Chris Huntington, who currently serves as the deputy administrator for the Building Codes Division of the Department of Consumer and Business Services, will begin his first day at the CCB on June 10. Huntington has an extensive background in state government and construction regulation. He has been with the Building Codes Division since 2005, and prior to that held a position with the Oregon State Legislature. “I’m honored to have been selected to join the great team at CCB,” said Huntington. “I look forward to working with the Governor and Board to achieve the priorities of strong consumer protection and a positive business climate.” Huntington replaces James Denno, who took a position as the executive director of the Oregon Travel Experience in January 2018. The CCB’s interim administrator, Rem Nivens, will stay with the agency through the transition to ensure a smooth changeover. The CCB is an agency of about 61 full-time employees, with a budget of $16.6 million in the 2019-2021 biennium. The agency regulates more than 40,000 licensed contractors throughout the state. “Chris Huntington has extensive experience working with staff, stakeholders and the legislature,” said Board Chair Jim Kitchin. “We were impressed by his commitment to serving the public interest. We believe that he’ll provide outstanding leadership for the agency while supporting the Board’s mission to support fair contracting, educate the public, and protect consumers.” The Construction Contractors Board licenses contractors, promotes contractor education, and protects consumers by preventing and resolving construction contracting problems.
