On Thursday evening, 12/08/2016 four members of the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received awards from the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association: Jackie McDaniel, Office Administrator, retiring at the end of December, 2016, who received the Meritorious Service Award for her long exceptional service with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office; Deputy Jonathan Boswell – Sheriff’s Deputy with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division who received an award for Distinguished Action; Deputy John Cooper, with the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division received an award for Distinguished Action. Both Deputy Boswell and Deputy Cooper received their award for their distinguished actions during a stabbing and assault incident this last year. Also, Deputy Doug Strain – Sheriff’s Deputy with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division received the Enforcement Deputy of the Year for his work in coordinating and brining to the state much sought after training.
