Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dunes Division offers Youth Rider Safety Education
CCSO release – It’s that time of the year, riding season is here! All Class I, Class III, and Class IV OHV’s (for youth) are required to have a Rider Safety Education Card when operating on public lands. Go to www.rideatvoregon.gov and follow the steps to receive your FREE rider education card. Youth riders under the age of 16, are required to complete the online portion and a hands-on portion to receive their Rider Safety Education Card. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office conducts the hands-on portion for youth rider education. Go to the same link provided and sign your youth up. Deputies attend the Oregon Parks and Recreation ATV Workshop in Eastern Oregon
CCSO release – Sgt. M. Smith and deputies M.R. Smith and A. Churchill attended the Oregon Parks and Recreation ATV Workshop April 9-11 in Central Oregon. This conference, sponsored by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Division (OPRD), occurs every two years. The workshop provides classroom training and field exercises on many topics/situations relevant to off-road law enforcement, education, and safety. While at the workshop, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Off Road/Dunes Division received an award from OPRD for being the agency that provides the most youth education training in the state. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank OPRD for the opportunity to attend this valuable training and work with other Law Enforcement agencies around the state.
