CCSO news release. On January 20th, 2018 at 11:30 pm a Deputy with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office casually contacted a male near Travis Lane and Cape Arago Highway, Coos Bay, Coos County, Oregon. The male identified himself as Tobey J. Denn. The deputy checked 41-year old Tobey J. Denn, Coos Bay, through the state and national data base. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center advised the Deputy, Tobey J. Denn had an active warrant out for his arrest for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Tobey J. Denn was taken into custody without issue and transported to the Coos County Jail. Tobey J. Denn was lodged for the warrant and bail was set at $25,000. He was later released on his own recognizance.
Strangulation
CCSO news release. On January 19, 2018 at about 11:57 pm the Coos County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 51000 block of Big Creek Road in the Bridge area for a report of a domestic dispute. The victim had fled to a neighbor’s home and was there when deputies arrived. The victim reported being thrown around a cabin and strangulation. The victim and the suspect are in a domestic relationship. Alcohol intoxication appeared to be a contributing factor. Based on information learned during the investigation, 56-year old Robert Thompson, Myrtle Point, was arrested for one charge of Domestic Strangulation and one charge of Domestic Harassment. Thompson was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and held in lieu of $15,000 bail. Thompson remains in custody as of Monday morning.
DUII/Accident
CCSO news release. On January 21st, 2018 at 2:07am, deputies observed a blue 2002 Chevrolet Town and Country van traveling north bound on Cape Arago Highway, Coos Bay, Coos County, Oregon. The van went off the road and attempted to pull into the Midway RV Park. As the vehicle was pulling into the park it struck the retaining wall. Deputies contacted the driver who identified himself as 35-year old Barry B. White, of Coos Bay. During the investigation of the accident, narcotics were located underneath the vehicle. Deputies requested a K9 unit to check for narcotics further inside the vehicle. Upon the Sheriff’s Office request, Sergeant Orrin Wallace of the Coquille Police Department and K9 Sophi responded to the accident scene to assist. K9 Sophi alerted numerous times on the vehicle indicating there was drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and drug paraphernalia was located. Deputies requested Barry B. White consent to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to which he did. Once completed with the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, it was determined Barry B. White was Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants. Barry B. White’s vehicle was towed from the scene. Barry B. White was taken into custody without issue and transported to the Coos County Jail. Barry B. White was booked and lodged for Driving under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Barry B. Whites bail was set at $65,000. He was later released on citations to appear in lieu of custody. This arrest was made with the assistance of the Coquille Police Department.
