Warrant/False Info
Hwy. 101, CCSO release – On July 20th, 2018 at 1657 hours, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a tip regarding the whereabouts of Derek L. Johnson who had an active felony warrant for his arrest out of Washington County. The Coos Bay Police Department on duty shift and a Coos County Sheriff’s Office Deputy set up a containment perimeter near Highway 101 and Newport Road, in the Bunkerhill/BayPark area. The Coos Bay Police Department tracking K9 Dak was on duty and was deployed to the area. K9 Dak struck a track in the area Derek L. Johnson was last scene. While the K9 track was occurring, a Deputy that was patrolling the perimeter observed a subject matching Derek L. Johnson’s description riding as a passenger in a vehicle. The Deputy followed the vehicle into the 711 parking lot in Bunker Hill. The Deputy contacted the passenger and was provided the name of Cody. A Coos Bay Police Officer arrived on scene and positively identified the subject as Derek L. Johnson. Derek L. Johnson was placed under arrest without incident. Derek L. Johnson was transported to the Coos County Jail where he will be held until being transported to the Washington County Correctional Facility. Derek L. Johnson will be referred for giving False Information to a Police Officer.
