CCSO release – Date/Time: January 17th, 2024, around 4:40 pm; Case #: 202400001393; Classification: Eluding Police in a Stolen Vehicle; Location: Green Acres Lane, Coos County; Suspect(s): Rodney Yeiter (35). Summary: Coos County Male Eludes Police in Stolen Vehicle. Arrested for Multiple Crimes and a Josephine County Warrant. On January 17th, 2024, around 4:40 pm, Deputy Z. Smith was patrolling the Green Acres area of Coos County when he observed a lifted blue Ford F-250 driving down the middle of Luscombe Loop. Deputy Smith stopped his patrol vehicle in his lane of travel as the blue Ford got back into its lane and drove by. Deputy Smith knew that a truck matching the description of the blue Ford had been reported stolen. Deputy Smith activated his lights and sirens and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the blue Ford. The driver sped away down Green Acres Lane at a high rate of speed. After approximately a mile the driver of the Ford came to a stop. OSP Trooper Waddington and Deputy T. Hansen arrived on the scene and assisted Deputy Smith. The driver, later identified as Rodney Yeiter (35), provided a false name and made claims to always drive the roads at high rates of speed. During a search of the vehicle, a spring-assisted knife was located. Due to Mr. Yeiter’s status as a convicted Felon, State law prohibits him from possessing such a knife. Also located in the vehicle was a lock-picking kit. Coos County Dispatch advised Deputy Smith that Mr. Yeiter had an active arrest Warrant out of Josephine County for a Probation Violation. After a thorough investigation, Mr. Yeiter was arrested for Felony Elude, Unauthorized use of a Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Driving While Suspended, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon (Knife), Reckless Driving, False Info to a Peace Officer, Possession of Burglar Tools, and a Josephine County Probation Warrant. Mr. Yeiter was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody.
