Beached Vessel, Coquille River
CCSO release – Date / Time: June 5th, 2023, around 3:04 pm; Classification: Beached Boat; Location: Coquille River near Bullards Beach; Involved: Jennifer Greenfield (53). Deputies assist a woman that beached her boat near Bullards Beach in Bandon. On June 5th, 2023, around 3:04 pm, Coos County Dispatch received a call from Jennifer Greenfield (53) requesting assistance as her boat was disabled and beached on the Coquille River near Bullards Beach in Bandon. Deputies R. Baker and B. Kent responded to the area using a Coos County Sheriff’s Office Marine Division jet boat. Upon arrival, Deputies noticed Ms. Greenfield’s 15-foot aluminum boat was almost entirely out of the water. The windy conditions made it extremely difficult for the boat to be removed from the sand bar, but by using their available resources, Deputies Baker and Kent were able to safely get the boat back in the water and tow it back to the dock. The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the community to remain safe when boating and using your local waterways. Thank you to Deputies Baker and Kent for assisting Ms. Greenfield with the incident and providing her with the appropriate safety tips!

Multiple Sex Crime Charges
CCSO release – Date / Time: June 6th, 2023; Case Number(s): S23-12860; Classification: Warrant Service; Location: Hauser Area; Suspect(s): Sarah Burnett (33). 33-year-old Coos County woman arrested on a warrant for multiple sex crimes. On June 6th, 2023, Deputy Z. Smith responded to the Hauser area in rural Coos County in an attempt to contact Sarah Burnett (33) regarding an active warrant for her arrest. Upon arrival, Deputy Smith contacted Ms. Burnett and advised her that she was under arrest. Ms. Burnett was transported to the Coos County Jail, where she was booked and held for the crimes of; Using a Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct, 2 counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the 1st Degree, 2 counts of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree, Rape in the 3rd Degree, and Sodomy in the 3rd Degree. Ms. Burnett is being held pending arraignment with a $250,000.00 bail.

New Hires at CCSO
CCSO release – Date / Time: June 5th, 2023; Classification: NEW HIRES; Coos County Sheriff’s Office continues to fill positions. (4) New employees were sworn in on June 5th, 2023. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek and hire qualified personnel. This effort resulted in (4) new members of the Sheriff’s Office being sworn in by Sheriff Fabrizio on the morning of June 5th, 2023. Two for the Communications Division, (Andrea Readen and Nicia Allred), one for Animal Control (Chloe Eberlein), and one for the Corrections Division (Josh Godin).

Sheriff’s Office Commendation
CCSO release – Date / Time: June 5th, 2023, around 6:21 pm; Case Number(s): S23-12814; Classification: Employee Commendation. Coos County Patrol Deputy S. Starr receives Commendation for exemplary service. Letter from Sheriff Fabrizio: ‘Deputy Starr: On June 5, 2023, at about 6:21 pm, you responded to the area of Highway 101 and Beach Loop Road in response to a report of a young child who was walking on Highway 101 and was unattended by an Adult. Sergeant L. Lynch of the Bandon Police Department also responded. The end result of the investigation is that you reunited the child with her mother after taking appropriate investigative steps. On June 6, 2023, at about 11:23 am, Captain S. Sanborn, Criminal Division Commander, received a phone call from Sergeant Lynch regarding your conduct. Sergeant Lynch relayed that he was extraordinarily impressed with your compassion and conduct in dealing with all parties involved. Sergeant Lynch told Captain Sanborn that you brought calm to the situation with all parties and took appropriate investigative steps. It was further relayed that you conducted yourself in a very professional manner. Sergeant Lynch was so impressed with your conduct that he felt compelled to reach out to Coos County Sheriff’s Office administration to laud your conduct. Deputy Starr, your actions are consistent with the best traditions and values of the Coos County Sheriff’s Office. You are to be commended for your actions on June 5, 2023. This letter will be forwarded to your supervisor and to your personnel file as a permanent addition to memorialize your conduct that day. Your actions bring great credit upon you, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Coos County and the State of Oregon. Keep up the fine work!’ Great work Deputy Starr! It is great having you on our team!
