Fields Sentenced to Prison
CCSO release – Date / Time: October 27th 2023; Case Number(s): 22CR18636 / 23CR15054; Convicted: Tristin M. Fields (24); Tristin M. Fields (24) sentenced to 108 months in prison for crimes committed in 2022 & 2023. On October 27, 2023, Tristin M. Fields (24) appeared in Coos County Circuit Court and pleaded guilty to several charges. Case # 22CR18636 – Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle / 52 months Dept. of Corrections; Case # 23CR15054 – Burglary in the First Degree / 56 – months Dept. of Corrections. Chief Deputy District Attorney Jody Newby prosecuted the case for the State of Oregon, ensuring the plea agreement held the defendant accountable for his actions. It is essential to understand all sentences given by the Court are per documented sentencing guidelines and the laws of the State of Oregon and the United States of America. Ultimately, Mr. Fields’ guilty plea was accepted by the Court, and Mr. Field was sentenced to 108 months in the Department of Corrections.

Sharp (35) sentenced to 25 months in prison for crimes committed in September 2023. On October 24, 2023, Jamie L. Sharp (35) appeared in Coos County Circuit Court and pleaded guilty to several charges. Case # 23CR46408 – Criminal Mischief in the First Degree / 25 months Dept. of Corrections; Case # 23CR48415 – Attempt to Commit a Class C/ Unclassified Felony – Theft in the First Degree / 10 – Days Jail concurrent to 23CR46408; Deputy District Attorney John Blanc prosecuted the case for the State of Oregon, ensuring the plea agreement held the defendant accountable for his actions. It is essential to understand all sentences given by the Court are per documented sentencing guidelines and the laws of the State of Oregon and the United States of America. Ultimately, Mr. Sharps’ guilty plea was accepted by the Court, and Mr. Sharp was sentenced to 25 months in the Department of Corrections.
Warrant Service
CCSO release – Date / Time: October 25th, 2023 at 11:49 a.m.; Case Number(s): 2023-00031339; Classification: Warrant Service; Location: W. Howard Lane, Coos Bay, OR; Suspect(s): Issac Veloz (43); Disturbance call leads to Coos Bay man’s arrest on outstanding warrants. On October 25th, 2023, at approximately 11:49 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a disturbance in progress on W. Howard Road in Bunkerhill, just south of Coos Bay. Deputy Mong arrived on the scene and was later joined by Deputies Z. Smith and Sattler. The argument was verbal, but it was discovered the male involved, Issac Veloz (43) of Coos Bay, had active warrants for his arrest. Veloz locked himself inside the residence, placing items in front of the door. The Deputies were able to speak with Veloz and convince him to come out of the home. Veloz exited the house without issue and was arrested for the active warrants for his arrest. Mr. Veloz was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody.
Elude by Foot, Whiskey Run Rd.
CCSO release – Date / Time: October 27th at 9:45 a.m.; Case Number(s): 2023-00031512; Classification: Elude by Foot / DWS / Warrant Service; Location: Whisky Run Road Mile marker 1; Suspect(s): Chakara R. Hoyle (31) / Darryl J. Sullivan (55); A woman flees on foot from a traffic stop, tracked and located by K9 Cena. Passenger also arrested on outstanding warrants. On October 27th at 9:45 a.m., a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a sliver Ford Ranger for several traffic violations. The vehicle tried to speed away and abruptly stopped on Whisky Run Road near mile marker 1. The female driver fled from the driver’s seat while a man exited the passenger seat and aggressively approached the deputy. The man was identified as Darryl J. Sullivan (55), who had warrants outstanding for his arrest. Sheriff’s Office K9 Cena tracked the woman driver and located her about 250 yards into the brush, hiding at the bottom of a steep hill in the brush. She was identified as Chakara R. Hoyle (31) and was taken into custody for attempting to elude by foot. Mrs. Hoyle was also cited for driving while suspended. Mrs. Hoyle and Mr. Sullivan were transported to the Coos County Jail, where they were booked and remain in custody. The vehicle was towed from the location as it was not registered to either individual and had a punched ignition, which allowed Mrs. Hoyle to use a screwdriver as the ignition key.
Missing Person, West Beaver Hill/Seven Devils
CCSO release – Date / Time: October 28th, 9:00 a.m.; Classification: Missing Person / Trespass; Location: West Beaver Hill / Seven Devils Road; Missing Person: Larry Silver (71); (71) year old man goes missing on Weyerhaeuser land and is later located by Coos County Search and Rescue K9 Jager. On October 27th, 2023, at 8:00 p.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center took a report of a missing mushroom picker. The woman, Cory Webber, was reporting Larry Silver (71) missing and had told dispatchers she had been mushroom-picking with Mr. Silver earlier in the day. Search and Rescue Coordinator Deputy J. Gray contacted Ms. Webber to arrange rescue efforts. It should be noted Ms. Webber herself has been the subject of a search and rescue (SAR) operation in the past after she became lost hunting mushrooms. Ms. Webber advised she and Mr. Silver were trespassing behind a locked gate on the Weyerhaeuser property near the intersection of West Beaver Hill Road and Seven Devils Road to look for mushrooms. Ms. Webber told Deputy Gray that she and Mr. Silver got separated, and she could not find him. Ms. Weber described Mr. Silver as a 71-year-old male who has difficulty seeing at night and was ill-equipped for the terrain and weather. A hasty search was initiated by Deputy Gray and several Sheriff’s Deputies who did not locate Mr. Silver at this time. Based on the information gathered by Deputy Gray it was determined that the missing person met the criteria for a SAR activation. Deputy Gray initiated a SAR call out for the morning of October 28t, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. The following morning, at approximately 0800 hours, the Coos County Search and Rescue team gathered to search for Mr. Silver. At about 930 hours, Mr. Silver was located by K9 Jager and handler Tony Deane. Mr. Silver declined any medical attention and walked out to safety under his own power. Upon further review and investigation, Mr. Silver and Ms. Webber were both subsequently cited for Criminal Trespass II as the area they entered was marked with signs, “No trespassing,” at the entrance to the area behind the locked gate. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind you that if there are signs or locked gates, and you do not own the property, it is not premises open to the public. There are several acres of public land for your enjoyment. However, there are also many acres of private land on which owners do not allow trespassing. If planning an excursion outdoors, please plan accordingly for the terrain and function you are doing. Wear the appropriate attire and make sure to bring the necessary equipment. The Sheriff’s Office is extremely thankful for our volunteers and co-workers who work with the Coos County Search and Rescue. They train and work for instances like this all year. The K9 teams that we have train weekly on their own time. This successful quick find is a direct reflection of how dedicated and serious the volunteers take this calling.
Warrant Service, Bandon
CCSO release – Date / Time: October 27, 2023 at 4:48 p.m.; Case Number(s): 2023-00031560; Classification: Warrant Service; Location: Filmore Ave SE / 4th Street SE, Bandon OR; Suspect(s): Storm, Daren D. (56) of Bandon. Bandon man arrested for an outstanding warrant on a traffic stop. On October 27th, 2023, at 4:48 p.m., Deputy H. Francis conducted a traffic stop of a blue Chevy Blazer near the intersection of Filmore Ave SE & 4Th Street SE in Bandon for several traffic violations. During the traffic stop, one of the occupants was identified as Daren D. Storm (56) of Bandon. A record check revealed Mr. Storm had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center confirmed the warrant, and Mr. Storm was taken into custody. Daren D. Storm was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody.
